  abstract      = {An attempt is made to provide a snapshot of trends in the highly volatile area of object-oriented analysis and design in the software application development industry. The trends are towards adopting scenario driven, iterative, fully object-oriented methodologies which are accommodating to the target implementation language. A standard notation, the Unified Modeling Language, is likely to be adopted by the end of 1997. The standard notation, however, can support a number of different methodologies.}
