  abstract      = {Increased competitiveness of the individual services industry forces financial institutions to develop new products that fit individual needs of their customers in shorter time. It is necessary to develop suitable information systems that support the process of designing, counseling and selling financial products. In this paper a general object-oriented methodology for the abstract representation of bank products is presented. Common properties and capabilities of products (of different lines of business) are identified. This allows reusability of product components in various products and also of software components in different financial institution. The rule-based approach allows a strict separation of programming code and important constrains.}
