  abstract      = {A variety of methods exists to construct documents using markup languages. These methods are based on markup templates that are filled with information. We argue that information retrieval may benefit from knowledge about these structures. It is possible to retrieve specific information assuming that it is embedded in a known template. This paper describes a tool for extracting text structure (templates) from documents written in any markup language. The tool utilizes automata theory and can be part of a larger information retrieval system.}
