  abstract      = {A data warehouse (DW) is used for the integration of data coming from multiple external data sources and making them available for analytical processing, decision making, as well as data mining. Typical approaches to a DW design assume that its schema and dimensions do not change in time. In practice, however, changes to these objects are frequent and are caused among others by: changes in the structure of external data sources, new user requirements, changes in legislation, needs to simulate alternative business scenarios. In order to handle the evolution of a DW schema and dimensions, we propose a multiversion data warehouse (MVDW). Such a warehouse is  composed of a sequence of its versions, each of which describes either a real DWstate valid within certain time period or represents a simulation environment. In this paper we discuss real world examples of DW evolutions, present the concept of the MVDW and its prototype implementation, as well as show how to apply the MVDW to handle the discussed real world changes.}
